Camshaft Engineering has developed programs and procedures for
the design and manufacture of cam lobes used in machines for testing
and calibration of diesel injection pumps.
Computer programs are used to convert the required lift versus rotation angle
data to polar or X-Y co-ordinates for the NC profiling of the lobe.
Alternately, the Cam Doctor equipment can be used to obtain profile information from
the fuel lobe of a camshaft, which can also be processed to NC profiling data.
Calibration cams or lobes are manufactured from high grade case hardening
steels, case hardened and tempered following profiling. Final grind of the lobe bore and
side faces ensures precision of fit to the test machine main shaft.
Calibration cams with up to 30mm pump stroke have been manufactured.
