COMPUTER BASED CAM LOBE PROFILE MEASUREMENT

Camshaft Engineering Company has installed Quadrant Scientific Cam Doctor equipment and software for the measurement of camshaft lobe profiles and subsequent analysis to provide timing and lift parameters. Additional software developed by Camshaft Engineering for analysis and plotting allows more detailed study of profile sections such as opening and closing ramps, and the superpositioning of profiles for direct visual comparisons. The programs also provide more sophisticated electronic outputs than the standard Cam Doctor for use by CEC and clients own programs.

The profile measuring facility is available and used for:-

Data for identification of non standard (modified) camshafts.

Validation of camshaft profiles for formula racing scrutineers.

Provision of profile data for the generation of modified cam profiles.

Validation of computer designed master lobes and finished camshafts prduced from them.

Quality control and general development work within CEC.

Provision of profile data for use in computer based engine simulation programs such as Dynomation.

Cam Doctor and related data can be provided as either hardcopy, on computer disc, or as attachments to email.
